Based on the Shadow Weave Table Runner, Dorothy adapted the pattern for a perfect set of soft, absorbent dish towels.
Dish towels are among Dorothy's (many) favorite things to weave—they are inexpensive,
quick, and low-risk opportunities to explore color, design and fiber.
Shadow weave is a block weave that allows four blocks on four shafts, which puts it in an elite group that includes overshot and crackle. Unlike those two structures, shadow weave does not rely on a supplemental weft thread for patterning, but rather two alternating, structural wefts (a dark and a light) interlacing with alternating dark and light warp ends. Each block is defined by which shaft the dark warp end is threaded on.
Dorothy Tuthill designs all of her patterns for your weaving enjoyment! These patterns are specifically designed for four-shafted looms and up.
